After climbing up the hill from the centre of the city to La Recolleta, this is the view from the top looking out over the city to the Andes beyond. Unfortunately, although we arrived during the prominently advertised opening hours, we were not allowed into La Recolleta and had to be happy with the views from the top. The picture below shows a football match in progress outside La Recolleta. There was a second match in play, just visible on the left of this picture, a popular place with the local children. |

The ladies on the right were the staff at our favourite restaurant after Sunday lunch. A three course lunch, including a soft drink, was only Bs3 (£0.45, US$0.68) and was fit for a king. We ate there three days running. The food was varied, one day a thick slice of lean meat, then a vegetarian dish and, on Sunday, a wait to get in as it was so busy and another delicious vegetarian meal with all the trimmings. |
